Screen Launches Digital Primer Option for Truepress Label 350UV SAI S Press
Screen has successfully developed a Digital Primer Option for its Truepress Label 350UV SAI S press, set to enhance UV inkjet printing capabilities by improving print quality, adhesion, and durability. This new option will be available globally starting in October 2024.
The packaging industry has seen a steady increase in the variety of substrates, particularly within the label segment. UV inkjet printing, known for its suitability for wide substrates and superior durability, has gained popularity. However, it faces challenges with certain special substrates where print quality, adhesion, and durability can vary due to differences in ink and substrate wettability.
To tackle these issues, Screen has introduced the Digital Primer Option for the Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S. This innovative feature improves adhesion and reduces graininess by utilizing the press's extra head space to install an in-line inkjet primer unit without needing additional installation space or main UV lamps.
The primer unit automatically generates a primer layer based on print data, which can be nearly transparent and sometimes used like varnish for a decorative effect. This capability broadens the range of materials and applications for digital printing, providing cost advantages and contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing waste and power consumption.
This development marks a significant advancement in digital printing technology, promising enhanced performance and broader application possibilities for converters in the packaging industry.
